There is a lively group of students in the BPI ranging from:
- undergraduate project students working towards their Part III theses
- one-year MPhil research students
- PhD students, working for 3 or 4 years to complete their theses on a range of different topics and spanning the five parent departments of the Institute (Earth Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, and Applied Mathematics).
